Project Status
The Marxist Metre is an ongoing effort to provide annotated digital editions of revolutionary texts. The library is always expanding, and new content will be added as it is deemed ready for release.
Annotated Content
Annotations and glossary links are added to all works to aide in the study of the materials. If you encounter a term that isn't highlighted but should be, or you wish to provide feedback on a defined term, we welcome you to contact us!
Audio Versions
We are progressively adding high-quality text-to-speech
audio recordings for every work in the library to
improve accessibility. That being said, we
do not want to use TTS readings. We would much
rather have real recordings by real people, and TTS is
no substitution for that - it is being used as a,
hopefully, temporary gap-filler.
To bring real readings to The Marxist Metre we will need
volunteer works to be made available to us, or donations
so we can fund the readings by professionals. If you
would like to contribute a reading to this site we
encourage you to contact us. With recordings by the
community we will be able to expand our scope and
provide free audiobooks.
In the nature of transparency, text-to-speech audio
generation is being created using
KokoroGUI
which provides an interface for Kokoro TTS. This is run
locally on a PC, offline, and not on a remote server.
Accessibility
Accessibility features are added with different needs in mind. We try to accomodate for those needs using either through visual and/or audio assistance. If there is a feature you think would help you or someone you know with injesting the works in this library, please contact us - we would love to work with you!
Site Downloads
As The Marxist Metre is updated, a free download of the
entire website is made available. This download will
allow anyone to access the site from any device without
needing internet access. This includes all features
including texts, audio, and effects like highlighting
during readings and annotations. You are free to use and
share these files as you would like, however we do not
permit re-hosting this site without our expressed
approval.
Should The Marxist Metre cease to exist for any reason,
we release the requirement for approval to rehost the
site and encourage all to share and host where they can.
